Face to Face - still the best for engagement.
After getting up at 5AM on a Saturday morning and staring down the barrel of a 10 hour flight to Houston your mind starts to wonder… is it all worth it? Compounded by further delays on the plane we finally take off from London Heathrow. 10 hours, 2 films and one reworked presentation later and we finally get to Houston - bleary eyed and not in the best of spirits.
As we step off the BA flight I look back and smile. The aircraft was aptly named ‘Face to Face’. And that was what it’s all about. You cannot engage employees by email, phone or video conference. You need to have basic human interaction if you want to engage people.
So here we are helping some senior managers to understand engagement, it’s benefits and how they can make coming to work a more fulfilling (and profitable) experience for everyone. It’s not going to change things over night - but it is the start of the journey.
We are also working with a wider audience to take them on a journey of discovery and get them to look at the organisation from a different perspective. We are going to help them create the key components of a vision - something that will inspire 600 other employees around the globe and we can’t wait to discover what that vision is.
So as I wake up and shake off the jet lag here in Houston I am reminded of the question I first asked myself….Is it all worth it? Absolutely right it is!
